Need a new necklace, bracelet? Jewelry subscription service allows you to try before you buy.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As fashion rental services and subscriptions like Stitch Fix and Rent the Runway continue to dominate the retail market, offering shoppers a consistent rotating wardrobe and an endless supply of personally curated looks, it makes sense that an accessories company would capitalize on the trend. Enter Rocksbox, a high-end online jewelry rental membership that enables subscribers to borrow three pieces of designer bling for a monthly fee. And if you’re not a fan of unboxing a “surprise” stash that you haven’t physically seen or touched yourself, you can now check out the company’s wares at the Staten Island Mall, New Springville.

“Rocksbox is excited to share that they’ve expanded to brick-and-mortar locations nationwide — including the Staten Island Mall — in partnership with Banter,” the company noted in a recent press release. “Banter and Rocksbox share the belief that jewelry is a celebration of self-expression where you’re the special occasion. Together, they’re bringing the joy of jewelry to everyone with an exclusively curated collection of 18K gold vermeil and sterling silver styles.”

Banter, formerly Piercing Pagoda, which has two locations in the Mall, will stock pieces from the Demifine by Rocksbox collection, which is made with premium metals and crafted by top designers. Described by the brand as “an everyday way to elevate your look,” styles include delicate gold chains, bracelets, earrings and more.

Available for in-person purchases at Banter for a limited time, Rocksbox said this brick-and-mortar collaboration is intended for shoppers to see products in person before committing to a monthly subscription. If you opt to pursue a membership, here’s what to expect:

· Wish list shopping: Members choose from thousands of styles from designers like Kate Spade and Kendra Scott and then create a personalized list of jewelry they’d like to try. They can then personally select particular pieces to sample or have a stylist make the decision for them.

· Unbox and wear: Shoppers receive three initial pieces. When the first set arrives, wear it or swap for some new choices.

· Buy or return: The service costs $21 per month. Shoppers can purchase their favorite styles or use a prepaid envelope to return the set when they’re ready for more.

“Rocksbox makes it easy to discover new looks, rock the latest trends or add more of your favorite classic styles to your jewelry collection, without the commitment to purchase,” the company said. “There’s no limit on the number of sets you can receive every month, and your $21 monthly membership credit can be put toward the purchase of any piece from your set. There are no strings attached — you can cancel anytime.”
